ACCA LEADERSHIP TO KEEP OUT MINORITIES AND NON-UK MEMBERS
The voting for the ACCA 2000 Council elections closed yesterday. However,
its outcome has already been decided by the elites ruling the ACCA.
As all members know, ACCA does not have elections. Its council is "appointed"
by the leadership which will cast some 20-25% of all the votes. As only
between 5%-10% of the membership votes, the leadership's "block vote" becomes
even more significant.
To collect this vote, the leadership uses ACCA's resources and
sends envoys to countries like Malaysia and Hong Kong. Members are offered
free lunches and buffets in return for incomplete voting papers. In the
UK, the magazine does not allow any debate.
The outcome of the Council elections will be announced at the AGM on
4th May. But AABA can predict the following
No reformer will be allowed to be elected. The leadership does not want
anyone who will ask uncomfortable questions.
No non-white person will be elected. Throughout the history of the ACCA,
its officeholders have always been white and from the UK. They will only
support people like themselves.
No person from outside the UK will be elected to the council. The leadership
claims that ACCA is 'global'. But the reality is different. It is small-minded.
It will not give proxy votes to any non-UK member unless it thinks
that the members are going to be their poodles. This year there are a couple
of candidates who helped the leadership defeat the EGM. They are expecting
a pay-off by being hoisted to the council. But none of these individuals
are big names in their own countries. So the leadership does not really
need them and it won't give them the full support. So no one from outside
the Uk will be "appointed/elected" to the Council.
Of course, we could have misjudged the way the minds of the ACCA officials
work and could be totally wrong. But AABA has been studying the ACCA leadership
for a long time. We expect to be nearer the mark.
All senior figures (Auger, Bishop, Brockwell) will get re-elected. Such
is the power of the 20-25% proxy votes. Valerie Cully, a friend of Peter
Langard will also get elected.
